this is good question Krišjānis! every detail in your instrument is important. reed, mouthpiece, ligature, neck and body of your instrument - saxophone. i would say that most close detail is reed and mouthpiece , than ligature, than neck and than body of saxophone. firsts and all - ergonomics + material of the detail is important. talking " necks" - i would say that important is what material you have, what bore you have for neck is important. you can have neck with brighter or darker sound projection qualities. and also you can have necks with free or less free resistance of the earth stream. so ... many colours of your sound projection depends on many aspects of neck building qualities. personally i have my two custom tenor saxophone necks - german silver one and brass one we have builded in riga winds saxophone workshop. both are custom made and has different qualities of resonance. silver has warm sound but brass has focused sound production qualities. i hope it helps and comment if you need more information. free wind!
